Romania - the Country

One of the outlying settlements of the Roman Empire, Romania was on both sides in WWII and then languished under Soviet rule for 50 years.  The current infrastructure is mediocre but palaces provide evidence that its past is more glorious than the present.  In fact we found that Romanian rulers have spent huge amounts on opulent projects - probably to the detriment to the people.
